Yet He negated visibility from Himself by His saying: {Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision; and He is the Subtle, the Acquainted} 1

And both statements are true concerning visibility and the transcendence above depiction and anthropomorphism; for it is truth just as the master Abū Shu‘ayb said in his supplication, where he stated: "Allah is greater, Allah is greater; He is too mighty to be limited, and too magnificent to be described, even though He disclosed Himself through manifestations, and revealed Himself to His servants through the veils of munificence". [al-Ḥujub al-Arīḥiyāt]."

[[The Esoteric Exegesis of the Verse of Light]]

And He has likenessed Himself to the niche, the lamp, the glass, the pearly star, and the manifest light; meaning His manifestation in the luminous form, for He said—and He is the most majestic of speakers: {Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp}—meaning a light—{the lamp is within glass}
