He uncovers from the sights of His creation; so every genus sees Him like its genus; thus the luminous beings see Him as luminous and humans see Him as human.

And that is due to their incapacity, and the incapacity is within them, not within Him, and all of that is from the direction of the inversion of hearts and sights, while He is exalted above encompassing and restriction, and the monotheist Knower does not care, when he confesses the existence of the Creator, so he deems Him transcendent above every perceived, limited form, and described, numbered direction, and removes Him from the two limits: from the limit of anthropomorphism with His creation,

and from the limit of invalidation and divestment [al-Ta‘ṭīl] of His manifestation 1 .

As our sheikh al-Khaṣībī Abū ‘Abd Allāh—may Allah brighten his face—said in the "Chapter of Guidance" in verse:

And He is not the thing limited to be defined

Nor is He (nothing) to be negated with the negation of a denier

Footnotes

1Manuscript: "The limit of anthropomorphism and the limit of divestment [al-Ta‘ṭīl] or invalidation, so the limit of anthropomorphism is that he does not resemble Him to creation, as our sheikh said".
