THE SEVENTEENTH CHAPTER

"ARGUMENTS OF THE OPPONENTS OF REINCARNATION"

Contemporary Islamic thinkers who oppose the philosophy of reincarnation rely on the following arguments and indications:

The Holy Quran says: {O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people} 1 .

Opponents argue that the Prophet Muhammad—Exalted is His Might—would have been the person most suited to reveal the philosophy of reincarnation, especially since it concerns a sensitive matter like the justice and wisdom of God. It is argued the Prophet would not have left such a matter unaddressed. Furthermore, it is not recorded that his companions, who lived alongside the Prophet and the Message, ever asked him about this or stood bewildered by it; it would have been primary for them to seek clarification.
