As for his philosophy of embodiment or reincarnation, it was clarified by his famous vision, sections of which are summarized as follows:

Hermes said that the Light filling the universe addressed him and revealed the Divine Secret to him, saying: "The Light you see is the Divine Spirit that contains everything in potentiality, encompassing the forms of all beings. As for the darkness, it is the material world living within the light of the earth, and the radiance flowing from the heights is the Divine Word."

As for the human soul, its life has two aspects:

Its fluctuation in matter, i.e., reincarnation.

Its ascension into the Light.

Souls are the "plants of heaven," and their journey through "shirts" (bodies) is an experience for them. In reincarnation, the soul loses the memory of its heavenly origin. Its intoxication with the wine of life while imprisoned in these "shirts" causes it to descend like a fiery torrent into the realms of torment, passion, and death—by entering the earthly prison in which you now reside—making it perceive the divine life as nothing more than distorted dreams.

As for the evil, worldly souls, they remain imprisoned on Earth by the chains of successive transmigrations and reincarnations. In contrast, the sublime souls ascend to the higher celestial spheres to once again behold the Divine and rejoice therein, by virtue of the effective will they achieved amidst the suffering of pains and sorrows and the overcoming of earthly
