condition after stage.{ So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe } 1 ?!

What is understood from these verses is that the Quran swears by elements of the universe to point toward the law that governs this universe. Just as the sun sets and the night comes—the succession of night and day—and just as the moon transitions from one state to another—crescent, full moon, and moon—within a kinetic, circular, eternal law of cyclic formation.

Likewise, this law applies to humans as well; they transition from life to death to life in a continuous movement (Samsara). As it can be understood from the verse {You shall surely embark upon stage after stage } 2 , you shall certainly transition from state to state, which is death and life. Thus, you pass through embodiment in all human races, ethnicities, and social conditions within that single human family, and you will pass through both sexes, male and female.

The traditional interpretation among the Sunnis is not very far from this meaning, even if it does not explicitly declare the concept of the return to embodiment; in a broader sense, everything changes and transforms from state to state in a cyclic, circular, eternal movement, taking successive forms whose sequence during a specific period shapes the concept of formation.

Many thinkers and philosophers throughout the ages have declared their belief in reincarnation, such as Pythagoras, Plato, Aristotle, Origen,
