The Muslims divided the soul into three parts or types, which are:

Enjoining to evil (corresponds to the desire body and the astral body).

Reproachful (corresponds to the higher mental body).

And At Peace (corresponds to the illuminative body and the Atmic body).

Man consists, then, of:

A mortal Personality, which means the mask.

And an eternal Individuality.

The mortal, contingent personality is a tool used by the individuality, or it is a garment worn by the individuality in a single earthly embodiment; or rather, it is a complex mask composed of intellectual, ideological, doctrinal, and emotional masks. Meanwhile, the individuality is eternal and takes more than one embodiment—meaning it reincarnates, meaning it wears or dons new shirts—according to the sum of its convictions and previous actions.

That is, the individuality transitions from one human form (a shirt or a mask) to another human form, carrying with it from its previous embodiment the sum of its depths in the form of qualities, temperaments, opportunities, and circumstances. However, the individuality itself shall also pass away when the Night of Brahma descends; thus, its eternity is relative—it is eternal in comparison to the lower self and the body.
