For the transformation into animal, plant, and inanimate [forms] pertains to bodies, not souls; these souls are punished within these animal, plant, inanimate, and human bodies. Their composition is one, and whichever was from the other and whichever was prior is believed by the reincarnationists. Accordingly, the body and the garment are not eternal to others, but rather are from a created sequence [derived] from one another.
As for the eighth objection, it is: how can the intellect accept that one who was his mother, his sister, or one of his unmarriageable kin (Maharim) in this generation could be his wife in the next generation?
I say: And who among the reincarnationists has said this? The intellect does not accept this, for Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, is the Guardian of the purity of lineage and progeny, and the entire matter is in His hand, Glory be to Him and He is Exalted, and He is the One Capable of that. So whoever spoke this dangerous speech to one who remembers his previous generations and garments—that he was a son to a certain woman and she was his mother, and now she is his wife—this has not happened because Allah is the Trustworthy Guardian.
As for the ninth objection, it is from one of the brothers regarding our statement in the funeral prayer: "And he is in an isthmus (Barzakh) among the isthmuses of the world."
