He said: Abu Abd Allah Ishaq ibn Fahd narrated to me, in an interrupted chain (mursalan), from our Master Abu Abd Allah Rozabah ibn al-Marzuban [Salman al-Farsi]—unto him be peace—who said: The Greatest Master, Muhammad—Glorified be His Might—called me one day to the house of Umm Salama. With him was a group of the elite of his people, including: al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad al-Kindi, Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, Ammar ibn Yasir al-Absi, and Abu Ayyub Khalid ibn Zayd al-Ansari to completing forty men. Among us was Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr as a young boy. He brought us food, so we ate and washed our hands. Then the Messenger of Allah—Glorified be His Might—said: "Reassure your hearts, for you are upon goodness, and I have only called you for goodness. Listen to what your Prophet says to you: Do you believe in Allah and in me?" We said: "We believe in Allah and in you, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Am I not truthful in your eyes and not a liar?" We said: "By Allah, we have never doubted you." He said: "Allah is a witness over you; do not deny me in what I say to you, and beware of doubt (shakk) in what you hear from me.
Know that I call you to Ali ibn Abi Talib just as I call you to Allah. Indeed, Ali is my Master and your Master. Verily, you are the elite of my supporters (ansar).
