Abu Salih al-Daylami
May Allah have mercy¹ upon him, he was a brilliant scholar and a philosopher; many mentioned him and praised him, such as Abu al-Fath, the Sheikh of the author of the Egyptian Epistle (al-Risala al-Misriyya), by his saying—and it is in the "Misriyya": "And I met Abu Salih al-Daylami who authored the book of Guidance for the Seeker, and he recited to me for al-Sayyid al-Himyari, and he provided a piece of poetry, the first of which is:
The wife of Noah in the Book is the one who
The dogs of al-Haw'ab barked at her at dawn
If you knew what the Prophet Muhammad is
And the pure ones, and his peer, and the son of the Prophet
You would have cleared yourself of what was said in his praise Before the Tashahhud by Khalid, do not strike
And he was a contemporary of al-Jazari, and Haydar bin Safi al-Din bin Mahmud al-Fariqi.
His birth—may Allah have mercy upon him—was around (380) three hundred and eighty, and he excelled in the five hundreds, because Abu al-Fath stated about him and about his book, and the death of Abu al-Fath was (409) AH; and Abu al-Fath stated about Ismat al-Dawla and his epistle, and the hearing of Ismat al-Dawla was (407) AH, and about Abu Sa'id Maymun.
