So He moved His head within His cloak, and behold, he was Simon. I prostrated, then He said to me after I had raised my head: O Jabir, do you know Ali? I smiled and said: Yes, o my Lord, o Commander of the Bees. So He moved His head within His cloak, and behold, He was al-Anza' al-Batin [the one receding of hair and stout of belly]¹, He did not cease from His essence.
(Worship: Is it for the Name or for the Meaning?)
[22] The authentic narration has come from reliable sources that Lord Abu Shu’ayb, peace be upon him, used to say in his prostration: "You alone I worship, O Ali, and from You alone I seek help," and he used to say in his glorification: "O Muhammad, O Praised One; O Ali, O Worshipped One."
And it was narrated that a group of the Monotheists [Al-Muwahhidah] differed regarding worship; a group said: Worship is for the Name, and a group said: Worship is for the Meaning. So they wrote a letter regarding that and delivered it to Lord Abu Shu’ayb, peace be upon him, and he wrote on its back: (How [Kayfa]), and sent it back to them. When they looked at that, they did not know its meaning, so they went to Muhammad ibn Jundub, peace be upon him, and they handed the letter to him and asked him about that. He said: Cast it upon the number of letters; do you not know that Ali is three letters? They said: Yes. He said: And likewise, (How [Kayfa]) is three letters.
