ALI GRASPS THE REINS OF THE HEAVENS

[16] It has been narrated from him on the Day of the Conquest [of Mecca] that he came to the Kaaba and cast down Hubal. The Messenger—mighty is his might—bowed down for him until he ascended upon his shoulders; then he extended his hand, and it lengthened until he took hold of Hubal and flung it behind [him]. It has been narrated that the palm of Hubal’s hand was taken and weighed, and it was fifty manns. On the authority of Abdullah bin al-Abbas, he said: "We have seen from you, O Commander of the Faithful, a marvel and a matter that terrified us." He said to him: "And what is that matter?" He replied: "Because the height of the House [the Kaaba] is thirty-five cubits, and the height of each one of you is seven cubits, yet your hand lengthened until it reached Hubal." Our Master, the Commander of the Faithful—mighty is his might—said to him: "By Allah, had I intended to extend my hand to the reins of the seven heavens to grasp them and bring them down to the earth, I would have done so."

By my life, by Allah, none claims this or says it except the Worshipped Lord, the Existing God—Manifest in His Essence without corporealization (Tajsid) or limitation (Tahdid). To Him belong miracles and power that mankind fails to perceive.
