And the decisive evidence that the indication of the Master Messiah (may his might be strengthened) was toward Simon his Legatee is the saying of the Messiah: {And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them} 1 , an indication from him to himself in the sense that he is the witness over them and the one in charge of their affairs. So when He took him up—meaning when his Master raised him to Himself—his Meaning, who is his Legatee, became the Observer over them and the one in charge of their affairs, and there was not

his indication to a Lord [who is] neither invisible nor unobserved, but rather manifest among them as them; and the Messiah did not testify for himself that he was a witness over them except as long as he was among them.

And since it is established that the Master Messiah—may his might be strengthened—was a witness over the nation in which he was manifest [and] visible, and he is Simon Cephas, and he is our Master, the Commander of the Faithful—may his might be strengthened—according to the Gnostics. And His saying, Exalted is He, in Surah Al-An'am: {And if you could but see when they are made to stand before their Lord. He will say, "Is this not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord." He will say, "So taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve"} 2 .
