By Muhammad ibn Isma‘il al-Juzayri—may Allah be pleased with him—one of the Monotheists who lived near my own time, surpassing others in knowledge and literature. He was also a vizier and a profound, brilliant scholar—may Allah sanctify his soul. Among his sayings—may Allah forgive him and the believers—is:

'With Abu Turab [Ali], in sincere devotion, I begin;

And through His Anza’ite nature, I triumph and succeed.

In Him is guidance; there is no god but Him—

My Lord and your Lord: the Batin [the Hidden/Vast], the Ajlah [the Receded/Clear].'"

"And this poem contained nothing that corresponds to this book except these two verses; the rest of it implies otherwise. Rather, after several verses, it contains two other verses that pertain to our cause and path. The first verse is this:

'How hideous it is to affirm the Deity through a [fixed] form,

Yet to negate affirmation from it is even more hideous.'

'The Truth is a manifest Truth; its affirmation is

The "Essence of Certainty," and in the hidden realm, it is not impugned.'

Were it not for the fear of being too lengthy, we would have provided it in its entirety, but our manner is brevity.
