As He, the Exalted, said: {'Say: If the ocean were ink for the words of my Lord, the ocean would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought the like of it as a supplement' } 1 .
The scribe finds sufficiency in these verses, for they concern the grace of the Worshipped Meaning (al-Ma‘nā al-Ma‘būd). It was the Master Muhammad—may His glory be magnified—who took the upper arm of our Master, the Prince of the Faithful, on the Day of Ghadir and pointed to Him as the Deity. Likewise, [he did so] during the Pledge of the House (Bay‘at al-Dār).
He [Ali] is the one who placed his feet between the Prophet’s shoulders, ascended the Sacred House [the Kaaba], smashed the idols, and cast down Hubal. He said to the House: 'Vanish,' and it vanished upon his descent from it. Then He said to it: 'Return to what you were,' and it returned; thus He named it 'The Ancient House' (al-Bayt al-‘Atīq). In this, there is sufficiency. We now return to what the author of this book composed—and Allah is the Granter of success in what is right.
