Hasan [the scribe] is verified through Him,

And there is no concern for every crude liar who denies Him.

And I am free from him who has gathered

Wealth and counted it, [thinking] it would make him immortal.

Comparing [other men] to the Chosen Prince [Ali],

When He appeared through the poetry of His Monotheist.

[I] spoke of the Anza’ [Ali] in His affirmation,

With certainty, as Transcendent and Absolute.'

It was said to me: 'Speak of Ali al-Murtada

A praise that extinguishes a vaulted fire.'"

"Know, O brother who peruses this book—may Allah guide you to what is right and grant you the recognition of, and guidance toward, the knowledge of the Meaning (Ma‘nā), the Name (Ism), and the Gate (Bāb)—that an objection was raised to the scribe by one of the brothers (may Allah protect them and inspire them toward the truth regarding the son of Abu Talib): Is he a 'Name' or a 'Meaning'?

The servant [the scribe] answered him: 'He is the Ancient, Eternal Meaning, the Cause of Causes (Mu‘allil al-‘Ilal), and the Originator of the first movements.'

That brother replied: 'Rather, he is a Name, and worship belongs to another besides him.'
