[42] As Aristotle—may His power be exalted—said: 'Eyewitness testimony is a witness unto itself, whereas reports are subject to addition and subtraction. The most worthy thing to be accepted is that which is a proof of itself, by itself.'

Likewise, one of the Monotheists—may Allah have mercy on him—said:

'Take what you see and leave that which you have only heard of,

Act as the wise man does, for reports contain signs [of doubt].'

And Al-Mutanabbi said:

'Take what you see and leave that which you have only heard of;

In the rising of the sun is that which spares you from [seeking] Saturn.'

[43]And the Master Aristotle—may His power be exalted—said: 'The most worthy thing to be accepted is that which is a proof of itself, by itself—a definitive word and a firm decree that cannot be overturned in any way whatsoever.'"

"Our explanation of what this Monotheist composed, and the unification of what this Master established regarding the matter of the Manifestations—affirming that they are all Anza’ite [pertaining to Ali]—is as follows: The Seven Manifestations are, as previously stated, the Meaning (Ma‘nā), the Object of Worship, the Manifest, and the Present.
