Say to Ibn Khallad: 'This is my marketplace [of ideas] forever,'
A blessed trade from my religion and my creed.
[Presented] to you from al-Jawhari, a clever merchant,
As an exhortation and advice, without falsehood or envy.
How can you make the Veil of Allah [Muhammad] like yourselves,
Even if the purest among you were cleansed of envy?
Allah shall roast you in a fire and a conflagration,
Until you witness that which you sought to observe [in denial]."
"If we were to pursue all the verses he uttered regarding Monotheism, it would comprise a Diwan on its own. Pure gold (al-Tibr) is sufficient as gold when it emerges from the fire pure and refined, as it is said:
Wherever there is smoke,
There a fire is kindled.
A small portion of the merit of these virtuous men is enough for your own merit. In this second segment, there are two verses whose meanings might be obscure or confusing. We shall clarify their explanation and the intent of this Monotheist through them. We say, and with Allah is success, he said: 'He is the path to the Great Allah, just as
al-Husayn ibn Hamdan was the Muqtasad.'"
