"These verses were composed by this believing, Gnostic scholar [Ibrahim al-Mustaliq]. In them, he condensed meanings that perhaps none but a virtuous Gnostic could gather into such brief speech. The meanings of these words and verses have remained obscure (ista’jamat) to many people, and I shall clarify here what requires clarification.
Know—may Allah guide us and you to that by which we may triumph in both abodes, through Muhammad and his Station—that the meaning of his statement in the first verse: 'The Mountain of the Interlocutor is from the Interlocutor' is as follows:
The 'Mountain' refers to the body of our Master Muhammad, may His power be exalted. The 'Interlocutor' (al-Kalīm) refers to Moses. However, the 'Interlocutor' here is applied to the image of our Master Moses because he is the locus of the description and attribute."
"In reality, the Interlocutor (al-Kalīm) is the internal essence (bāṭin) of Moses; it is the Spirit which the Meaning (al-Ma‘nā)—may His power be exalted—originated from the Light of His own Essence. This Spirit is from the Light of the Essence without division or partition. It is the speaking entity within that 'Moses-form' as witnessed by the physical, fatty eyes.
The sum and detail of this discourse is: the body of our Master Moses is from the Light of the Light which radiated from the Light of the Spirit of our Master the Name (al-Ism)—may His power be exalted.
