And among those who employed verse in Monotheism, and who was among the eloquent Gnostic jurists: Ibrahim ibn 'Uthman al-Mustaliq, a virtuous and profound scholar. His words describing the [Divine] Manifestation on the Day of Mubahala are these verses:"
"The Mountain of the Interlocutor (Kalīm) is from the Interlocutor himself,
And it was only veiled from him by what appeared through his [bodily] vessel.
The Manifestation (al-Tajallī) was, at that moment, approaching,
So the 'dense' [material form] fell prostrate, testifying to its state.
Whatever was pure within it [the form] shone forth from its entirety,
Submitting to Allah upon [perceiving] His Image (Khayāl).
Until He chose him for the Manifestation above him,
Then elected him for His Light through his shadows.
The Letter leads toward another letter,
Forever, until it concludes with its perfection.
Through the Lām, the first thing a purified servant beholds
Is his Master, in a state of purity, during His approach."
