And there is no salvation except

In what He wills for the obedient and the sinner.

A bounty upon him in every deed,

For every 'protected' (ma'sum) one who is aided.

He chose with it whom He willed, not he

Who is rewarded only by what his hands have earned.

He informed us with certainty in the

'Seven Oft-Repeated Verses' [Al-Fatiha] of His remembrance.

I have strengthened the discourse concerning Him

With the decisive verses of the Quran.

It [the epistle] has become like a bride displayed

Adorned with magnificent pearls and gems.

The wise man shall grasp from it, with ease,

The ultimate pleasure of his desires.

I named it, for the secrets it contains

Of the internal hidden mystery and the meanings:

The Method of Knowledge and Clarification

And the Delight of Hearing and Sight.
