You have surely learned, O brother, and reached the knowledge of the masters who were in his era and those who took refuge in him—may Allah sanctify them and join us with them. The Emir Abu al-Hasan Ra’iq ibn al-Khadir al-Ghassani, whose lineage and path we have been describing, composed beautiful poems regarding Monotheism with sound meanings and eloquent words. Among his sayings and compositions are these verses:"
This is the [True] Narration,
The Truth and the Straight Path.
There is no god besides
Allah, the Protector of the servants.
"Allah" is the Name of the Meaning (al-Ma'na),
Though the discourse regarding Him is hidden.
And the Mīm [Muhammad] is a Name, and his meaning
[Is only clear] if you understand Ali.
Whoever deviates from this in doubt
Is the blind one, the straying wanderer.
"He [Ra’iq al-Ghassani]—may Allah be pleased with him—has many short pieces and resonant poems. If we were to exhaustively collect them, they would comprise a book and a Diwan in their own right.
