He manifested the Essence through various appearances;

Thus, the reality of the "Meaningness" (al-Ma'nawiyya) became certain.

He appeared at the start of all manifestations as Abel,

Revealing Himself within the Adamite Dome.

Everyone beheld Him according to the measure

Of their own [limited] physical, blood-based strength.

Then, after that—glory be to Him—as a Lord,

He manifested in the "Sethian" form [Seth].

He decreed what He decreed and ordained

What He ordained, through the subtlety of craft and Will.

He willed to disappear, becoming veiled,

Then appeared in the "Josephite" form [Joseph].

So, by the goblet of the Mighty, the pit, and the prison,

[He showed] matters that are not hidden [to the initiated].

He willed to manifest after this

To all of creation, in the "Joshuan" form [Joshua].

What a sign He showed them! When He returned

Openly the radiant sun of the day.
