He has never ceased from His being, even if He appeared to His sight; and He is the one to whom His Name and His Veil pointed in this Surah as well, by His saying: {To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and He is the Most High, the Most Magnificent} 1 and His saying: {And He is the Guardian, the Praiseworthy} 2 ; along with the testimony of the Master, the Messenger—mighty is his might—for our Master, the Essence (al-'Ayn)—Exalted and Sublime is He—and his saying: "O Ali, you are my Guardian (Wali) and my Helper."

[2] And like the saying of the Master, the Messenger—mighty is his might—to our Master, the Commander of the Faithful—mighty is his might—in the presence of those who accorded with them and those who opposed them: "O Ali, you are the Truth, and the Truth is with you wherever you are." The evidence for that is the saying of the Almighty: {That Day, Allah will pay them in full their true religion, and they will know that Allah is the Manifest Truth} 3 .

And without dispute, the Master, the Messenger—mighty is his might—when he swore, he used to say: "By the Truth of Him in whose hand is my soul," and our Master, the Commander of the Faithful—mighty is his might—used to say in his oath: "By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad.
