You must not say that the 'drinking of the Five Cups' brings success if it is accompanied by the abandonment of what Allah has obligated upon you, both outwardly (zāhiran) and inwardly (bāṭinan).

Furthermore, he warned against associating with the slanderer, the liar, the instigator, the prodigal, the adulterer, and the consumer of forbidden wealth (ḥarām). He urged that one must purify their intention (niyya) and rectify their inner soul for the sake of the Most High, the All-Knowing. A believer's heart must remain clear toward his fellow believer; he must not manifest any evil toward him, nor harbor any resentment or malice in his breast. He must love for his brother the same good he loves for himself and hate for him the same evil he hates for himself.

Then he [the poet] said: 'I am a counselor, compassionate and kind to every conforming believer.' He praised his own poem, noting that it is among the most magnificent of odes—and by Allah, it is exactly as he said and more. He mentioned himself, supplicating to Allah the Exalted and asking Him to forgive his Sheikh, Sini al-Dawla—may Allah be pleased with them both and grant them satisfaction.
