"The answer—and with Allah lies all success—to the objector and to whomever Allah has granted success and inspired with the reality of all this: If an objector objects or a claimant argues, then it is indeed truth and sincerity. However, this al-Awni—may Allah curse him and abase him—was among those who heard the Monotheism (Tawhid) through clear and reasoned discourse in the presence of a group of believers. Yet, he turned on his heels, fled, apostatized, doubted, and refused to accept.

He was influenced by the views of al-Qarmati (the Qarmatian)—may Allah curse them both. Al-Awni is a role model in the school of Tafwid (Delegationism), followed by others; all the Delegationists after him refer back to his words, and he is a pillar upon whom they rely. Despite all this, our Sheikh (al-Khasibi)—may Allah be pleased with him—testified that al-Awni is a 'led follower' (ma’mum) and is not granted mercy.

This is because his 'son' al-Jilli—who is the role model after his Sheikh—asked him about al-Awni, al-Azqari, al-Hallaj, and al-Alawi al-Basri. He (al-Khasibi)—may Allah be pleased with him—replied: 'The [first] three are blameworthy (madhmumun), but al-Alawi al-Basri is praised (mahmud).'

I have seen a group of the People of Monotheism saying: 'The Alawis are three: two are blameworthy and one is praised.'
