He—may Allah be pleased with him—was deeply pained and nearly burst with rage upon hearing the poem of Abu Muhammad Talha ibn Ubayd Allah al-Awni, who had made it [his own poem] his 'Torah' and boasted of it during his life among his 'satans' and after his death. I shall present of his [al-Awni's] defects, shortcomings, blameworthiness, and evil opinions that which everyone who hears it shall recognize.
Know—may Allah guide us, you, and all the believers—that al-Awni, may Allah curse him, was a blameworthy and accursed man. He belonged to the people of Tafwid (Delegationism), which is the closest of sects to the doctrine of Monotheism [Alawite Gnosis] "
[41] As our Sheikh [al-Khasibi]—may Allah sanctify his soul—said in his epistle, and as we have narrated on the authority of the 'Knower' (al-'Alim), may His might be exalted:
'From Short-falling (al-Taqsir) one ascends to Delegation (al-Tafwid), and from Delegation one ascends to Monotheism (al-Tawhid); this is the path for the wayfarer.'
