When Allah—Exalted is His Name—wills,

He appears as the 'Mim' (Muhammad), Most High and Capable.

He causes the 'Mim'—Exalted is His mention—to vanish Beneath the brilliance of His Light when He [Ali] appears.

He manifests Power and Speech through him,

And the dazzling miracle when it is proclaimed.

He is in that primary form

Which the one who looks with [spiritual] sight recognizes.

Without appearing in a likeness similar to it;

A created form, yet not like other forms.

He [the questioner] said: "Explain to me: with His entire Essence

Does He appear in Humanity (Nasut) when it is said He appeared?"

I said: "If He were to manifest His entire Essence,

The hearts of all creation would be torn asunder."
