He is recognized among the great Monotheists in both the worldly and religious realms. I have not encountered any of his poetry or his virtuous compositions except for his famous poem, well-known among the entirety of the Monotheists. It is of the finest poetry and the ultimate aim in [the science of] Monotheism. He—may Allah be pleased with him—made it a Law (Qanun) and a Pillar (’Umda). He presented and deposited within it everything a Gnostic requires, and he achieved the utmost creativity therein. He—may Allah the Most High sanctify his soul—followed the clear path: the path of the virtuous Sheikh, our role model and our teacher, Abu Abd Allah al-Husayn ibn Hamdan al-Khasibi—May Allah brighten his face and ennoble his station; and may He never turn us away from his path, by the right of Muhammad and his status with his Creator, the Ancient and Eternal.

We shall present from this poem what is fitting to mention and include, following the path we are treading—and with Allah lies the direction of the path. The poem is well-known and famous among the believers, and its opening is:

O caller who kept me awake by what was mentioned,

You have called out the Truth and delivered the warnings.
