However, in the esoteric (Batin), I have found nothing of his except this Maqsura (a specific type of poem), which is the ultimate end and goal in [the science of] Monotheism. I swear by Allah that if a Gnostic memorizes it, little of the knowledge of Monotheism will ever escape him, for he gathered within it everything a Monotheist believer needs. Were it not for the fear of being too lengthy, I would have included it in its entirety, but I mention from it [the poem] only what is necessary and what is required for this chapter. Allah, by His generosity, is the Giver of success toward what is right. It is as follows:

O seeker who asks me about guidance,

Listen to my words; there is no echo [falseness] in my speech.

Listen to the words of a wise and virtuous man,

Guided to the paths of rectitude, who then found his way.

People differed, for they were led by their disbelief

Into the paths of delusion and blindness.

They were blinded and strayed from the path of their right-guidance Through their denial—and the deniers are in the Blazing Fire (Laza).
