The Master of the Two Dawns, the Light of Abu Talib,

From His love comes the path to the Treasured Secret.

That is the Master of Masters in truth,

And there is no Master but Him, from first to last.

What could be finer than this regarding Pure Monotheism (al-Tawhid al-Muhd)? He (may Allah brighten his face and honor his resting place) has a vast Diwan (collected works), all of which is centered on Monotheism. It is our purpose in this book to mention what was composed by those who lived during our Sheikh’s era, including his disciples and others (may Allah be pleased with them).

Among these are the words of Sheikh Abu al-Husayn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jali (may Allah sanctify him), from his ode which begins: 'By the Stations, O God of Mankind,' leading to where he says:

In You, O Haydar (Ali), I seek refuge from the humiliation Inflicted by the people of stubbornness, the progeny of the vile.

So protect me from them by Your power and Your might,

For my stay among sins has grown long.
