I would have undoubtedly died from longing While my heart wandered in frantic palpitation

But when ecstasy showed me that You are my Presence I witnessed You existing in every place

So I addressed an Existent One without speaking And I beheld a Known One without physical vision

This is the very essence of the reality we established earlier regarding the existence of the Meaning (al-Ma'na) in its eternal everlastingness. He (may Allah be pleased with him) used to associate himself with the House of al-Sayyid Abu Shu'ayb (peace be from him). He possessed miracles and signs that defy and stun the intellects.

Likewise, his disciple and spiritual son Abu Bakr Dalaf ibn Ja'far al-Shibli was a man of renown and a Sheikh famous for his knowledge and religiosity. He possessed many short poetic pieces, and everything he uttered in poetry was a hidden symbol (Ramz) and a veiled covering (Sitr)."

"Among these accounts is that he preached to the people in the Grand Mosque of al-Ramla in the month of Rajab, in the year 432 AH. At that time, he was one hundred and twenty years old.
