Look with the eye of your intellect and distinguish with your mind how this man has woven verses from the Great Quran—from the Speech of Ancient Pre-eternity—and dived into the seas of wisdom regarding the praise and Monotheism he pursued.
It is enough of a virtue and pride for poetry that our Lord, the Commander of the Faithful—Glorified be His Might—spoke it himself. He possesses many poems and resonant, far-reaching odes whose mention is widespread across the horizons. He also has individual and paired verses, as do our masters Abd al-Muttalib, Abd Manaf, and others among the people of high ranks and shimmering lights.
Among the sayings of our master and lord Abd al-Muttalib (whose name is Imran) is the following. He is the grandfather of our Lord, the Commander of the Faithful—Glorified be His Might—according to what the eyes witnessed of earthly lineages, and the grandfather of our Lord 'Mim' (Muhammad). This was said when he repelled the elephants and the army of Abraha ibn al-Sabah, the companion of al-Julandi ibn Karkar, the ruler of the city of Latakia, when he intended to destroy the Sacred House—may Allah the Exalted curse them both, for they are the First and the Second.
