This is found in his oath 'by Him who sealed the pebble.' It is well-known among the general public that the one who sealed the pebble was al-Hasan the Latter—Glorified be His Might—and the one who was named 'The Successor' (al-Wasi) is our Lord, the Commander of the Faithful—Exalted is His Greatness and Sanctified is His Will.
Thus, Abu Nuwas clarified, identified, declared, and codified that the one who sealed the pebble is al-Hasan the Latter, the essence of our Lord the Commander of the Faithful—Glorified be His Might—as we have explained previously in this chapter. And I shall further explain .and I shall provide an eloquent explanation of that in the 'Chapter of Inquiries' (Bab al-Masa'il), if Allah the Exalted wills. Among the eloquent scholars is Abu Tammam Habib ibn Aws al-Ta'i, one of the 'Entrusted Ones' (al-Mustawdi'in) and the 'Guardians' (al-Mustahfizin) of the lesser World—may Allah sanctify his soul. He says:
They say to me: Speak praises of Ali
For if I do not, they say I am stubborn
It is not that I withheld poetry from him out of emptiness
Nor that I have strayed from the Path of Truth
But by Allah, I protected from mere verses the One
Whom our Quran praises within the mosques
