Verily, these attributes are fulfilled in Him, for He is not in need of describing Himself; rather, they are [manifested] in me and attributed to me, and some are my descriptions. As for His saying: {He is Allah}, it is an allusion to me, for I am the Master of the Masters (Mawla al-Awliya). He—Glorified is He—said: {And Allah is the Master of those who have believed}; thus, I am the Master of every believing man and woman.

As for His saying: {The Ever-Living} (al-Hayy): I am the Ever-Living who does not die, and my mention is eternal. This is like His saying in the story of the Messiah, where they thought they had killed and crucified him, yet that had no reality: {And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them} 1 , and that Allah raised him to Himself. I am higher in the sight of Allah than the Messiah.

And His saying: {And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision} 2 ; and I am the Commander of the Faithful and higher than them. And His saying in the story of His Prophet Idris: {And We raised him to a high station (makanan 'aliyyan)}—I am more sublime in the sight of Allah than Idris.
