Whenever we attribute "Absence" (Ghayba) or "Manifestation" (Zuhur) to the Pre-eternal (al-Qidam), those terms have no [literal] reality. But when we attribute them to the Temporal (al-Hadath), then Manifestation becomes the sign of existence, and Absence becomes an "accident" (arad) affecting the eyes of the beholders. This is because the people of every rank look at Him from their own perspective, not His.

He—Exalted is He—neither changes, nor alters, nor transforms, nor ceases. He is the One who veiled our eyes from the core of His Essence (kunh dhatihi) and showed us that which cannot be encompassed or grasped—clothed in a form that undergoes what created beings undergo, yet He is contrary to that [human frailty], for He is the Omnipotent One who veils our sight or shows us His Essence as a witnessed form, just as He showed us when we were worthy of beholding Him. Thus, the veil is upon us; we are the veiled ones, while He exists in reality. We are only veiled from looking upon Him when we deserve to be, just as when we were granted the vision, we were deserving and entitled. He is Manifest (Zahir); nothing veils or hides Him. He is Manifest throughout the continuity of His eternity and pre-existence. Exalted be Allah, the King, the Clear Truth.

It is fitting for you, O successful brother, to increase your supplication to your Lord and ask Him for deliverance (iqala) from that which He has tested you with. For He has no need for injustice, nor is He tyrannical in judgment.
