For the Pre-eternal Meaning (al-Ma'na al-Azal), the Unique, the Besought, the Ancient, the High, the Great, is more Sublime, Loftier, Greater, and more Radiant [than our descriptions]. His miracles transcend the need for the establishment of proof, nor does He require us—the wretched ones—to explain the Explanation (bayan al-bayan) or to prove His Divinity in every age, time, eon, and moment.

Rather, we establish the evidence and proof for one another so that we may be guided and remain upright upon His Oneness. This is because Allah the Exalted manifested what He manifested of His miracles and displayed what He displayed of His proofs regarding His Essence—things that far exceed the capacity of created beings in the heavens and the earths. He made this His proof (hujjah) over His creation, "that he who perished might perish by a clear proof, and he who survived might survive by a clear proof," so that the people would have

no argument against Allah. Furthermore, Allah—Glorified and Exalted is He—made created beings as means (asbab) for one another out of His mercy, kindness, and compassion for them, not due to any prior merit on their part, nor for any offering they had sent forth before Him. Rather, He—Glorified and Exalted is He—acts toward His creation as befits Him, for He is the Source of Piety and the Source of Forgiveness."
