At that, Khosrow was struck unconscious (su'iqa) and fell down in a faint. Hormuz fell prostrate (sajidan) due to the greatness of what had been manifested.
Then [Ali] said to me: "O Jabir, if you wish to see that for yourself with your own eyes, and how it was, I shall show it to you." I said: "O my Lord, by Your favor upon Your servant Jabir and Your bounty upon him—the turbans of Your kindness have always covered him, and the subtleties of Your handiwork have encompassed him—so grant him the success to establish thanks and fulfill praise in You and toward You."
Our Lord—Glorified be His Might—said: "Look, O Jabir." I looked before me, and behold, I saw that the earth and the wilderness were filled with a mighty army, all of whom were Indians. I had never beheld them before, nor had I ever seen any one of them. They were upon beasts of various kinds and species, the likes of which I had never seen nor heard of—elephants and others in the forms of birds, possessing wings, legs, udders, claws, saws, beaks, and other features of different colors that cannot be counted, nor can knowledge encompass them.
Suddenly, I saw Khosrow fainted upon his face, struck down, and Hormuz in prostration. And behold! My Lord was in the very form He had described to me—the description He gave of the King of India. He was wearing robes of red silk, with a crown and a circlet on His head encrusted with jewels, girded with a belt of gems, holding a spear, and riding an ash-gray elephant.
