And Sheikh Abd al-Hadi Haydar, Allah sanctified his soul, said in his Reviews (Muraja'at): "Our saying: '(a form unlike forms', and others) is a negation of non-existence, and an affirmation of existence and appearance."

And it was narrated that a Jewish man entered upon our Master, the Commander of the Faithful, glorified is his glory, and said to him: "When did Allah exist?" So the Master, glorified is his glory, said: "When did He not exist so that He came to exist? He is existent without modality; He existed without a 'how', and He has never ceased to be without a 'how'. He is before the before and there is no 'before' to Him, and He is after the after and there is no 'after' to Him. He possesses no limit, nor does He terminate at a limit; all limits break short before Him, for He is the ultimate limit of every limit."

Sheikh Abd al-Hadi Haydar, Allah sanctified him, said—clarifying the meaning of the preceding speech of our Master, the Commander of the Faithful, glorified is his glory: "Indeed, the saying of our Master, the Commander of the Faithful: 'He is existent without modality'. Is exactly like the saying of our Sheikh, Allah purified his person: 'a thing unlike things, a light unlike lights, and an attribute unlike attributes'.
