And our Master ar-Rida, glorified is his glory, was asked about Monotheism (tawhid), so he said: "Monotheism is entirely contained within His, the Exalted's, saying: {Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One"}; so our saying: (Allah) is an affirmation of the existence of a worshipped Deity, whose modality the intellects have strayed from perceiving, and whose intrinsic Essence they are bewildered from encompassing. Thus, He is a thing unlike things, a light unlike lights, and a body unlike bodies."
And among what came in Bihar al-Anwar is that it was said to our Master as-Sadiq, glorified is his glory: "Yunus, the client of the family of Yaqtin, and Hisham ibn al-Hakam claim that Allah is a thing unlike things, and that things are distinct from Him, and He is distinct from things; and they both claim that affirming a thing is to say it is a body, so He is a body unlike bodies, a thing unlike things, established, existent, not missing, nor non-existent, external to the two limits—the limit of stripping away attributes (al-ibtāl) and the limit of anthropomorphism (at-tashbīh)."
