when you witnessed things, and your seeing them contrary to their origins."

And al-Raddad, Allah sanctified him, said: "So the halting and the disobedience that bewildered your mind are what showed you your Creator as your likeness."

And he, Allah sanctified him, said: "As for what the fleshy, bloody eyes witnessed, it is not a form, nor a veil, nor a body; rather, it is a cause upon the people of blind gnoses and denier understandings, and it is the veil of halting that imprisoned you, O Sheikh, within the temples, and it is a cause that showed you the Creator eating and drinking—exalted is He far above that."

And it came in Tuhfat al-Akhyar: "And all the witnessed attributes in the viewed form—such as incapacity, eating, drinking, and killing, and whatever resembles these witnessed attributes in the eyes of the lookers—all of them are due to the cause of the temperament that is within the universe, which showed them their Creator with these lowly attributes, while the Truth, glorified is He, is transcendent above these descriptions."
