He shows them the Essence as an image by His capability

Exalted is the Imager above the embodiment of any embodied

It came in the commentary of Sheikh Ibrahim Abd al-Latif, Allah sanctified him: "And the outcome of the verse indicates that He shows them His Essence, the Exalted, in different forms and diverse attributes, as an affirmation of His capability and a trial for His creation."

And the author of Al-Tanbih, Allah sanctified him, said: "The absolutely capable One is not incapacitated by any thing among things, for He is with everything in the form of that thing, yet He has no form, and no form has restricted Him."

And it came in the epistle of Tadhkirat al-Arifin by al-Kufi: "I want to ask you: if Allah willed to appear to His creatures and show them His Essence without exhausting their sights, would He be capable of that or incapable? If you say: incapable of that, then you have attributed Allah to incapacity and weakness, and this is not permissible; and if you say: He is capable, then He would be, therefore, manifest to His creatures, He seeing them and they seeing Him by His capability, since He is capable."
