Thus, His manifestation, glorified is He, in a form and like the form of His creation was a source of comfort for the believers, and a concealment (talbīsan) overriding the disbelievers—those who were veiled by the physical form from recognizing the Possessor of the Power, and did not attain the guidance to recognize that the unassailable, Hidden Lord whom they worship, glorify, and magnify is the very same present Entity existing right among them. They are the ones whom al-Makzun, Allah sanctified his secret, intended by his saying:

“They wandered aimlessly in His descriptions within the hidden realm,

Yet upon direct witnessing, they cast aside His abstract Reality which they had described.”

Thus, by their denial of this present, existing Entity, the proof was established against them. As for the believers, it was through this very manifestation that the clear path was illuminated for them; for that veil—meaning the form they perceived—did not prevent them from recognizing Him and believing in His abstract Reality (ma‘nawiyyah). Rather, it served as a token of His existence and an indication of His manifestation, because had He not manifested, they would never have recognized Him.
