They were on the very verge of pointing to the locus of its manifestation with Divinity, except that the form in which they perceived Him, and the human conditions that He displayed upon Himself, nearly veiled them from His recognition and almost prevented them from acknowledging His abstract Reality (ma‘nawiyyah).
However, when they scrutinized the matters deeply and pondered them with their intellects, they came to know through Allah's guidance to them. They deduced—via the outpouring of the divine intellect granted to them—that the locus of those proofs, the discloser of those tokens, and the fashioner of those brilliant miracles is the very One whom the messengers called toward, urged the recognition of, and pointed to with Divinity. This was because they found everything by which Allah is described to be perfectly applicable to the Possessor of that form.
At that point, they believed and validated that He is indeed the Great Powerful God, and they said:
"Whosoever possesses this power as His power, then that physical form is not His true form."
