Likewise is the physical form within the likenesses they formulated—they intend by it absolute transcendence (al-tanzīh)."
Thus, we find that the physical form upon which the eyes of the onlookers fell is merely like a dream-like phantom (al-ṭayf al-manāmī) that you see in your sleep, leaving no trace upon wakefulness; or like an imagination (al-khayāl) that presents a semblance to your eye while being non-existent in reality. Rather, it is exactly like a mirage (al-sarāb) that you see from afar on a hot day and deem to be water, yet when you come to it, you find it to be nothing. It is purely an anthropomorphism (tashbīh), an imagination (takhyīl), and an exemplification (tamthīl) within your own vision.
This compels us to say and believe that everything we witnessed within the witnessed form—the Sublime Essence, which manifests from its own stance as absolute, unadulterated Light—is entirely from our own side, not from the side of the Essence.
