Therefore, we say: "Indeed, all the forms, shapes, conditions, and states that we witnessed within the Sublime Essence are merely anthropomorphism (tashbīh), imagination (takhyīl), exemplification (tamthīl), and formal configuration (tashkīl) inside our own eyes, and there is no reality to any of this."
The Noble Masters, glorified is their glory, and the Great Monotheists have drawn attention to this matter, stating in their traditions and epistles that everything upon which the eyes fell, and which they witnessed of the witnessed form, is nothing but anthropomorphism, imagination, and a mirage within a mirage.
The Holy Qur'an has affirmed this meaning—namely, that certain matters may appear to people's eyes as a semblance, while possessing no reality in objective fact. Examples of this, as we have previously seen, include the staff of Moses and the crucifixion of Christ, as well as what occurred to Bilqis when she entered the palace hall and deemed it to be a body of water, when it was not so.
