by the evidence of His, the Exalted's, saying: {And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me} 1 and by consensus among all the commentators: the meaning of His, the Exalted's, saying: "to worship Me" meaning: to know Me.
And it came in the Qudsi Hadith: "O son of Adam, I created all things for your sake, and I created you for My sake." Meaning: for My knowledge, and since the knowledge of any thing among things is not completed except by ocular vision.
As they said: "Gnosis is not correct except by the vision of the eyes," because the vision of the eyes is the sight of the eye and the affirmation of the insight, so without it, knowledge is not completed, especially the knowledge of the Creator, glorified is He, because knowledge requires worship, and worship requires pointing, and pointing is not correct except to a present, existing one who sees you and you see him.
As our Master as-Sadiq, glorified is his glory, said: "Whoever claims that he has a god who is not known, then he has no god, and whoever claims that he has a lord who is not seen, then he is from the party of Iblis.
