Then he said to them: "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath."

And like it is what appeared in the fifth chapter of the Gospel of John:

Jesus said to him: "Rise, take up your bed and walk." And immediately the man was healed, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. The Jews therefore said to him who was healed: "It is the Sabbath! It is not lawful for you to carry your bed." He answered them: "He who made me well said to me: 'Take up your bed and walk.'" Then they asked him: "Who is the man who said to you: 'Take up your bed and walk'?" But he who was healed did not know who he was, because Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in that place.

After that, Jesus found him in the temple and said to him:

"See, you are well; sin no more, lest something worse happen to you." So the man went and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. For this reason, the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill him, because he had done this on the Sabbath. But Jesus answered them: "My Father is working until now, and I am working." Therefore, for this reason, the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath but also said that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
