starting from His greatest servant—who is His Messenger, His Name, and His Greatest Veil—down to the last of the worlds of Light, then to the end of our human world. This is because each of the servants of Allah sees Him through what those below him do not see Him through, and the attribute by which he sees Him is the limit and capacity of the onlooker; its locus is in the observer, not in the One being looked upon.
For this reason, he indicated by his saying: "I am the servant of Allah." Meaning that the attribute by which the servant of Allah sees me is the attribute of that servant, as the scholar established in the book (Al-Asus) by his saying: "So if He says 'I am a servant,' then the Lord has spoken the truth regarding the fact that He is a servant in the vision according to you. It is valid for Him to say 'I am your servant,' and it is valid for Him to say 'I manifested myself as a servant'; likewise is the inflection of speech and the Power [it has no inflection]1. And the Lord may say anything."
The People of Oneness have established that the names and attributes are situated upon the Greatest Name to indicate that every person among the servants of Allah sees Him through an attribute that is the locus of that attribute is upon Him, whether it be a Name, a Gate, an Orphan, or otherwise.
