None but they can claim the triumphant lead
by God, no runner has ever overtaken them.
In God is their love and in Him is their hate
for the sake of their like, the Heavens compete.
They are veiled from you; were you to count them
as mere mortals, the claims of Eve would be refuted.
And God bears witness—Exalted is His Word—that they
are the trustees over the treasuries of His Knowledge.
It is as if they—I have believed in them—are His Will
Glory be to Him, that He might will what they have willed.
Had I not known His Oneness through their virtue
I would have thought them to be His associates.
You would imagine Jesus, in his majesty, to be their father
upon whom tenderness and splendor lean.
Religion is that which is cast to them in purity
and Inspiration is what the "sons" are taught.
Through them, He is dispensed from all other learned men
and through Him, they are enriched beyond all else.
