The division whose outward is prohibited and whose esoteric is permitted

Know that just as it is indispensable for us to use the outward forms of these lawful blessings due to the bodies' need for them, it is likewise indispensable for us to believe in their inner meaning due to the souls' need for it. Just as the human who does not use their outward form will inevitably die, likewise, the one who does not believe in nor practice their inner meaning (Batin) is undoubtedly dead—meaning, a disbeliever. This is the true death, according to the saying of the Master al-Muntajab—may Allah sanctify him—in his poetry:

You see him in the form of the living, so you deem him Alive; yet he is dead, though not yet entombed.

Know that within this category is the disparagement of the devils (al-Abalisah), the Pharaohs, the tyrants, and the disbelievers according to the People of the Outer (Ahl al-Zahir). This [disparagement] is permissible both outwardly and inwardly—meaning, in private among the believers and openly among the Opponents (al-Adad)—both in speech and belief, due to the consensus of the masses on disparaging them and the Quran’s explicit declaration of it.

Among the verbal and creedal contents of this category is the affirmation of Divinity to Allah and the submission to Him in servitude through His Beautiful Names that are outward (al-Zahirah), such as al-Rahman (The Compassionate), al-Rahim (The Merciful),
